The PX frame number, line by line
Where it is, what the prefix says, and why it is the first photo we ask for.

Before the mileage, before the paint, look at the frame. The number stamped into the body tells you which model the Vespa is, and it must match the registration book.
Where to find it
On large frame Vespas, the PX and its siblings, the stamp sits under the right side panel, on the body, near the rear shock mount. Take the panel off and use a torch.
On small frame Vespas, Primavera, ET3 and 50 Special, it is also on the right under the engine cowl. Either way it is photo ten of our protocol.
What the prefix says
The number starts with a prefix that identifies the model. If the prefix does not match the declared model it is not necessarily a scam: it may be a replacement frame. But it has to be asked, and written down.
| Model | Prefix | Years |
|---|---|---|
| PX 125 E | VNX2T | 1981-1998 |
| PX 150 E | VLX1T | 1981-1998 |
| PX 200 E | VSX1T | 1981-1998 |
| P 200 E | VSX1T | 1977-1983 |
| Sprint Veloce 150 | VLB1T | 1969-1979 |
| Primavera 125 | VMA2T | 1968-1983 |
| Primavera ET3 | VMB1T | 1976-1983 |
| 50 Special | V5B1T | 1969-1983 |
Checking it against the papers
The number in the registration book must be identical, digit by digit. Restamping, digits of different heights or paint covering the area are signs to look into. Our Reviewer makes this comparison on every Normal listing, and an inspector repeats it in person on every Plus.

Useful table. My PX 150 says VLX1T but the Italian papers say VLX2T: replacement frame?
It can be a transcription error at the registry, it happens. Send both photos to info@tunnelverde.it and we will tell you.
The low torch tip is gold. With the flash I could not read a thing.
