Slipping clutch: what to replace and what not to
Before you open the engine, two five-minute checks.

The revs rise and the Vespa does not pull: the clutch is slipping. Before you order a kit, two checks that take five minutes.
The cable and the adjuster
A cable that is too tight keeps the clutch slightly open all the time. There should be a couple of millimetres of play at the lever. You adjust it at the crankcase, no special tools.
The gearbox oil
Too much oil, or the wrong oil, makes the plates slip. On the PX you check the level at the plug on the crankcase, with the Vespa upright: the oil should reach the edge of the hole.
Plates and springs
If cable and oil are fine, then it comes apart. Cork plates wear; springs get tired. On high-mileage PX 200s it pays to fit uprated springs.
In the engine drawing, the part called Clutch filters the parts that fit your model.

It was the oil. The mechanic before me had put in twice as much.
Do uprated springs make the lever heavier?
A little. On the 200 you barely notice; on the 125 you do not need them.
